Before the questions, before the introductions, there’s food, hearth, and the willingness to share them.
I’ve read The Odyssey countless times through different translations, and each time in every season of my life it greets me differently.
The story reminds me that we’re all wandering through our own odysseys: meeting strangers, offering warmth to others, receiving warmth, finding home in the act of welcome itself.
Be present. See and hear people. Make them comfortable.
The hearth between us is what makes us real.
